I've been trying to eat 'no added sugar' for the past week and I think I'm finally over the hump of no sugar depression, and have reached an ok second last day. The whole purpose of doing a mini challenge where I didn't eat added sugar, was to see whether sugar really affected my gut because I've been bloated constantly in the morning.
Unfortunately, the bloating hasn't stopped yet - possibly residual from having too much alcohol at my boyfriends birthday, but this week still has been full of ups and downs - mostly mentally instead of physically.
The first two days were just alright, as I had some of my favourite meals planned out - kimchi stew with rice, steamed fish, and lots of fruit lined up. However, the third day hit where I was craving biscuits, gelato, sugar in my cup of tea in the morning, digestives which I dip into my tea..... However for some reason, at the start i cut out white bread as well, thinking that white bread has sugar added into it. To my surprise, most white bread doesn't have added sugar (although it is high GI) and today was the first day I had toast with a perfectly ripe tomato and cheese. But the restrictions were also surprising - I couldn't have pretty much anything packaged, and I've spent most of my week cooking with fresh ingredients. And I definitely felt pretty depressed after not having anything sugary sweet unless it was my five pieces of fruit a day - normally 2-3 but I've amped it up with the lack of added sugar.
Honestly, my overall thoughts about the no-sugar mini diet is that, it's not that hard to eliminate 50% of the added sugar intake in your diet. I mean, I've definitely not been eating that healthy (i had a potato cake for lunch one day), and I've realised that I probably do have a sugar addition, but taking out the extra sugar bits - adding sugar to your tea, eating 5 biscuits a day, having gelato every day during the holidays etc. is really a little too excessive.

Other than struggling through my lack of sugar, I did get some things done today. I deweeded some of the snow pea patch, and probably should get some chicken wire for it to move and grow up onto in the next week. I also spent more than two hours on washing the carpet and mopping the carpet. Most of the hair from the carpet was from Soot, and I realised that I really can't hold it against him.
Otherwise, I watched Judge Judy, knitted a little, saw David a little, and got my DTaP booster with mum and dad before my little niece pops out.
Hopefully tomorrow is full of plans, as I have yet to make any.
